Our Process
At Ricks Fine Art, we take special care in creating museum quality backdrops and in fulfilling the needs or desires of our customers. We begin by getting acquainted with the customer, his space, business or specific goal of the mural theme.
Once we have the basic idea, we start the design process. This begins with rough concept sketches. If the mural includes mounts, extensive research goes into designing an appropriate habitat backdrop surrounding the pose of each mount. Sometimes this may require images idealized from a specific geographical area where the animal was harvested. We continue to sketch until the concept is in complete unity with the entire display. We even consider the local colors of the wood, walls or textiles in the space where the mural will be installed to insure everything is painted in harmony. In other words, a lot of extra time is taken to make sure the end result is truly a museum piece.
Along with a rough scaled sketch, we include a detailed written description of the entire painted theme. We go to great lengths, making sure we are on the same page as the customer. At this preliminary stage, if any changes need to be made, it can easily be done.
Once the concept is approved and signed by our client, we go right to work in our Central Utah studio. Mural size canvas is stretched out on our easel specially designed for mural production. The concept is then scaled up and painted to the customers specs. When the mural is finished, we deliver it to the site of installation, mount it to the wall and do the necessary touch up or additional painting that would be necessary to put the final touches on the project. The end result is a true museum piece that will last a lifetime!
